More Cheap

I've wanted to get some film of riding, for no other reason than I want to. They make $200 cameras with stands that attach to your helmut or bike. El Capitan Cheapo sez, no way. Was looking at my camera and it has a 1/4x20 thread on the bottom for a tripod. Hmmmm. I also know that there is a conduit hanger aka 'mini' that is for 1" pipe that has a hole through the bottom of it for attaching it to the wall.

Here is a mini, 1" and 3/4" (and some delishus PB Twix):

Camera, w/ hole:

Mini attached with pieces of leather as shock absorbers in between washers:

Mounted to the bike with foam rubber around bar, squeezed in under the mini. Also note, I took the wrist band from the camera and ran it down the bars - so in the event it came loose, it wouldn't go very far:

First trial run....stills are ok (w/ the clutch in). Video is out. Too much vibration, even with the littlest amount of throttle. Gotta be a way though. I'm close.

Also a quick note...when filling up at the gas station with a jockey shifter that sticks way out, be careful the fill hose doesn't accidentally pop the bike into gear, making you look like a jackass when you try and start it up. Theoretically of course.

On The Cheap

My air cleaner's 'look' has been an issue. It works good, looks like crap. Catalogs are selling inserts and covers that range from $20 to $100. Blech. And I don't want an Old No. 7 cover anyways. So, I've been using CD's. The center of the cleaner itself is threaded and the outside diameter of it fits a CD perfectly. I have digital copies of everything, so I don't care if the CDs get ruined (and they do eventually crack). Lots of options, but running out of CDs. Here was my last one:

Gotta get some tunes on, new 5FDP works:

This is what it looks like with no cover:

Got the idea when I was rummaging through my parts bin and found a big shim I didn't need from my primo kit. Center hole was too large, but a fender washer solves that problem:

Rattle can:

All steel new digs. A bit shiny, but time and weather will dull it down and - no more cracking:
